How a wireless charger works

A wireless charger works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. A coil in the charger creates a magnetic field, which is captured by a coil in the phone and converted back into electrical energy. This allows the mobile device to charge without a cable; you simply place it on the pad.

This principle is utilized by theQi standard(the wireless charging standard), which is supported by brands such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Honor, and Motorola.

What to watch out for when wireless charging

Here are some practical tips for wireless charging:

• When wireless charging, there should be no obstacles between the phone and the charger. A thick or unsuitable case can slow down or completely prevent charging. Metal objects (e.g., coins or cards) completely block charging.

• The phone gets slightly warm during charging, which is normal, so you don't need to worry.

• With older phones (e.g., iPhone 8 or Samsung Galaxy S8), expect support only for the Qi standard (wireless charging standard), meaning without magnetic attachment.
